Dog Health Care

Basic dog health care you should know

Proper understanding of dog health care is important as you would not want to take any chances with your dog's health. While you can always rely on your vet for dog health care, some basic knowledge would be helpful so that you can detect health problems early. Also, you ought to be able to administer basic dog health care without having to rely on your vet all the time.

Generally, dog health problems usually fall in the following 4 areas:

External Parasites

Fleas, ticks, lice and mites are the 4 main external parasites that can cause health problems to your dog. These parasites are dangerous and they carry parasites and can multiply very fast. Additionally, fleas and ticks can make your dog very uncomfortable.

You can detect this dog problem when you see your dog scratching furiously and biting into his coat. If you detect this early, you can use dog flea or tick control products like dog flea control shampoo and other flea medication. If you think that the problem is severe, it's best to get your vet to check on your dog and prescribe a flea control product.

Do remember to clean your dog house, kennel or bed to eliminate these external parasites. You may also want to consider getting a flea control collar or even a cedar dog bed. Regular dog grooming will prevent these problems and is an important part of overall dog health care.

Internal Parasites

More than 60% of the dogs in the country will suffer from worm problems at some point in time. Tell tale signs that you dog is suffering from this health problem includes:

1. Dramatic appetite change; either eating very little or overstuffing
2. Diarrhea and vomiting
3. Poor coat skin

Like it or not, accidents may happen to your dog. As such, it is important to always have a dog health care kit ready. This health care kit is essentially a dog first-aid kit comprising items like thermometer, bandages, flea and tick control powder, pain relieve ointment, sterile cotton, etc.
A complete dog health care kit will come in handy in times of emergency as you would be able to treat your dog or relive it's pain while giving you ample time to tak it to your vet for proper medical care.
