Dog house training - Dog house training, House breaking your puppy

House training & breaking tips
for your brand new puppy.

House training your dog is especially important when you have a new puppy in the house. You won’t want it doing would be chewing on your furniture or shoes or leaving its droppings around the house at random.

House breaking or house training your adult dog or puppy requires time, commitment, attention and most importantly, patience. Do remember that the dog does not do things out of spite, it just doesn’t know better. You have to be firm when telling your dog off but beating the dog senselessly will not endear the dog towards you nor will it explain to the dog what it did wrong. After all, if you were beaten for passing motion would you understand why?

The first thing about dog house training is that you want you dog to know where it can use for its toilet area. Puppies can be trained to take care on themselves on newspapers or even litter boxes. Whenever you think that your dog needs to take a dump, bring it to the toilet area. This will have to be done on a frequent basis and you have to be prepared for a few accidents here and there. However if done right your dog will be house trained to do its business in the designated toilet area.

In order to further encourage this, you will want to create a sort of a living area for your dog. This is because dogs are instinctively clean and will not want to soil their sleeping and eating area. House training your dog to know its living area by playing and feeding it there. Even encourage it to sleep in that area.

Once your dog has been properly house broken or house trained to only use the toilet area, you can expand its living area to other parts of your house.

Another tip for housetraining your dog is to have a regular feeding schedule for your dog. This will also created a more ‘regular’ toilet time which will help you during the initial stages of dog house training.
