Treats For Your Dog
Popular
dog treats
Dog
treats are becoming very popular nowadays, especially pig
ears and snouts! (Yes, these are the 2 most popular dog treats
in the market!) Dogs just love dog treats, whether it is pig
ears, biscuits, chewies or bones.
While
dog treats are usually given
simply to make the dog happy, they are often also used for
dog training purposes, especially clicker training. Whatever
the reason for giving dog treats, the key thing to remember
is that dog treats are merely treats. This means that dog
treats should not be given too often or too much. More importantly,
dog treats should never replace regular dog food or diet.
Generally, do not give dog treats more than a couple of times
a day. Also, the calories of dog treats given should not exceed
more than 10% of your dog's daily calories intake.
Very
often, dog owners will give their dogs any treat they can
find. But if you give your dog a healthy diet, shouldn't you
give him a healthy treat as well? There are many different
types of dog treats available, from natural, homemade to special
dog treats for puppies, diabetic dogs, etc. So, as far as
possible, choose a high quality treat for your dog and not
any treat you can find.
Some
of the more popular dog treats include:

Choobles
Natural
Pig Ears |
1.
Pig Ears & Snouts
Dogs' favorite treats! These are real ears and snouts
from real pigs. These tasty dog treats are natural pork
processed with no artificial coloring and preservatives.
High in protein and fat, they can be easily digested
by dogs. These dog treats are excellent for training
or simply as snacks. |
|
2.
Hooves & Knuckles
These chew dog treats from cow are very high in protein,
as much as 100% and can be easily digestible. These
dog treats will usually last the dog longer than pig
parts.

3.
Dog Biscuits
These are basically baked wheat-flour based biscuits for dogs.
Some dogs love biscuit treats because they are hard and crunchy
while some dogs may find them too dry.
4.
Bones
Bones are excellent dog treats as long as they are not
too small or brittle. Bones can serve as a chewing outlet
for your dog and help prevent tartar and dental disease.
You can either give real animal bones (usually the leg
bone of a cow) or manmade bones. Some manmade bones are
consumable (like cornstarch bones) while some are just
dog treats meant to keep your dog busy chewing. As they
come in a variety of flavors, these dog treats will certainly
keep your dog happy. |
|
5.
Rawhides
If
you are looking for a long-term dog treat for your dog, rawhides
are excellent choices. Available in white or basted with different
flavorings, dogs just love to chew on these. Since these dog
treats are not fully digestible, make sure your dog do not
bite off too big a piece.
If
you are using dog treats for dog training purposes, make sure
you choose one that is semi moist, palatable, fast to eat
and easily cut into small pieces. These training dog treats
must not make your dog full or take him too long to chew.
Inappropriate dog treats will make your dog training sessions
difficult and ineffective.
One
final reminder to all dog lovers - dog treats are just treats
after all. Never replace dog food with dog treats!
